About This Policy
This Policy explains the cookies and browser storage used on Buddie (www.buddie.gg), run by EBOOSTGG LTD. It is part of our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal data generally.
Cookie: a small text file a website stores in your browser and gets back on later visits.
Browser storage: the browser's "local storage" (kept until it is cleared) and "session storage" (cleared when you close the tab). It stays on your device and is not sent to us automatically.
Essential: needed for something you asked for, like staying signed in. The law lets us use these without asking. Everything else needs your consent.
The Short Version
- Buddie sets one cookie of its own: the one that keeps you signed in.
- We use no advertising cookies and no tracking pixels.
- Google Analytics runs only if you click Accept — and only once we have set it up.
- You can change your choice any time with "Cookie settings" at the bottom of our pages.
What We Keep in Your Browser
Essential — to make features you use work:
- buddie-cookie-consent: your cookie choice and when you made it.
- buddie.in: a marker that this browser has a signed-in tab, so pages load your chats faster. Removed when you sign out.
- buddie.rooms: your chat list (names, pictures and the last message of each chat), so it appears instantly when you reload. Cleared when you sign out or another account signs in.
- buddie:signup-pending and buddie:signup-verified: the email address you are signing up with while you wait for the code, so your other tabs move on once it is verified.
- teammate-apply-draft.v1: your Buddie application while you fill it in, including your answers, photos and voice intro links. Removed when you submit it.
- buddie.svc-draft.v1.<account>.<service>: a Buddie's unsaved service edits. Removed when saved.
- buddie:order-chimes: for Buddies, which new-Order alerts already played a sound, so several tabs don't all ring. Entries older than a day are dropped.
- gg.visited.<profile> (session storage): that you already opened a Buddie's profile in this tab, so one visit is counted once.
Preferences and convenience — remembered so you don't have to repeat yourself:
- buddie:recentSearches: your last 8 searches, shown on the search page.
- buddie:catFilters (session storage): the filters you picked on a game or category page.
- ggAnn:<profile>: that you've seen a Buddie's announcement, so it doesn't pop up again for a while.
- heroSeen (session storage): the homepage's intro animation has played in this tab.
- lowgpu and lg7:*: whether your device struggles with our glass effects, and the shapes for those effects, so pages draw quickly.
- buddie:support-context: for our staff only, a layout setting in the staff support view.
Some of these items contain personal data (for example your chat list or an application draft). They stay in your browser — anyone using the same browser profile can see them — so use a private window on a shared computer, and sign out when you're done.
Notifications in Your Browser
If you allow browser notifications, your browser installs a small background script from Buddie and gives us a push address, which we store with your account. Your browser's push service (for example Google, Mozilla or Apple) delivers the notifications. You can turn them off in Settings › Notifications or in your browser's site settings.
Other Companies' Cookies
Payments: Stripe, PayPal and NOWPayments take payments on their own pages. They may set cookies there to process the payment and prevent fraud, under their own policies.
Sign-in: if you sign in or link with Google, Discord or Riot, you go to their site, which may set its own cookies.
Google Analytics: as described above, only after you click Accept.
Buddie doesn't embed other companies' videos, social-media buttons or ad networks. Our fonts are served from our own server. Profile pictures of people who signed up with Google are loaded from Google's servers.
Your Choices
The first time you visit, a small box asks about analytics cookies. Analytics cookies and visitor_id are not used until you click Accept.
To change your mind, click "Cookie settings" at the bottom of any page of Buddie with a footer, then Accept, or the ✕ beside it to reject. Rejecting stops Google Analytics straight away, deletes its cookies and deletes visitor_id.
You can also block or delete cookies and site data in your browser's settings. If you block buddie.sid you won't be able to sign in, and if you clear site data your drafts, recent searches and cookie choice are lost.
Changes to This Policy
We update this Policy when we add, change or remove a cookie or storage item. The date at the top shows the latest version.
